Primarly, our investigations related to ECVs are basic research with the development and improvement of methods, time-series processing and analysis. Despite that, part of our activities are applied science with near-real time product generation. Our own AVHRR data archive contains more than 140.000 images covering whole Europe. The receiving facility is equipped with the latest receiver technology to gurantee reception until the life time of the NOAA- and MetOp series, which is expected in 2022. Finally, a time series of more than 40 years will be available for climate related investigations. Our inhouse processing software comprises state-of-the-art algorithms and calibration to avoid artificial trends and artefacts for climatological studies.
