Reduced visibility and adverse cloud cover is a major issue for aviation and road traffic. We use thermal camera images to analyze the visibility range in an urban area and study the detection of clouds during nighttime. Additionally, satellite data and LIDAR measurements are used to derive information about the cloud cover, its distribution, and the cloud base height.
