Welcome to the Research Group for Geomorphology, Natural Hazards and Risk Research
Our research group contributes to the assessment of societally relevant geomorphological questions, especially in peri-alpine and high mountain regions. We study geomorphological processes, such as debris flows, sediment transport and landslides, to provide a better understanding of process physics. In addition to basic research, we also analyze the hazardous potential of geomorphological processes with respect to human activities and the surrounding environment. We provide expertise on risk analysis and management, vulnerability and risk perception through interdisciplinary collaborations. In particular, we base our recommendations on lessons learned from practice.
