In the seminar ‘Exploring cultural and creative economies in theory and practice’, Master's students looked at the cultural and creative industries and how they are embedded in the current global and local economic context.
In detail, the following was examined:
- economic activities and spatial dynamics that characterise the cultural and creative industries
- driving forces and challenges of cultural and creative production and working conditions
- pluralistic and diverse forms of expression of (local) cultural and creative economic practices
Through group work on site at various cultural and creative locations in Bern and the surrounding area, students were able to establish, question and explore various connections between theory and practice. Methodologically, the seminar integrated various transformative and practice-orientated learning approaches. As part of a ‘vernissage’ as the final event of the seminar, the students presented their results in multimedia formats, as can be found below.
