The Climatology Group focuses on documenting and understanding past and present variations in weather and climate. The group is involved in data rescue activities and the derivation of data products using numerical and statistical techniques in the context of several international projects. The group also uses model simulations. With these data the group analyses variability of large-scale weather and climate as well as the influences of external factors (solar, volcanic) on weather and climate of the past 100-400 years.
